The Story of Mrs. Redbud
More than 35 years ago, this beautiful redbud tree arrived at Wittenberg Gardens as a birthday gift to Cindy from one of her students. When it was planted, we could never have imagined the memories that would one day grow beneath its branches.
Today, “Mrs. Redbud” stands as one of the treasured landmarks of Wittenberg Gardens. A patio was eventually created beneath her canopy, where family, friends, musicians, and garden guests have gathered through countless warm summer days. She welcomes everyone who comes up the drive, provides generous shade in the heat of summer, and each spring announces the new season with a spectacular cloud of brilliant pink blossoms.
Even winter brings another kind of beauty, when snow traces her graceful branches and transforms her into a living work of art.
After all these years, she has become much more than a tree—she is part of the story of Wittenberg Gardens and of the lives and friendships that have grown here.
Thank you, Mrs. Redbud, for always being there for us.
