The Story of the Bicycle

Tracy and Cindy discovered this bicycle at a local garden shop and immediately imagined something unusual—a vertical garden overflowing with succulents.

With nearly a hundred succulents ready to plant, the challenge was figuring out how to secure them between the spokes while giving their roots enough soil to grow. Chicken wire, mesh, thin wire, and plenty of patience eventually created a soil-filled planting pocket within the wheels.

For one glorious season, the bicycle was spectacular. Would we do it again? Probably not—it was a lot of work!

But the bicycle itself wasn't finished with Wittenberg Gardens. It has made appearances in several garden creations since then, and who knows where it might turn up next?
